Musical pictures from Lithuanian television archives
"Radvila Darius, Vytauto" is a lively dialogue between music performed live by four instrumentalists and video excerpts from the LRT archives.
In the last years of the 1980s, the period of censorship in Lithuanian television ended. Problems, suggestions and comments accumulated over the years flooded the airwaves - everyone wanted to talk. Formally still without freedom, the audience quickly became involved in the search for a new identity, heroes and vision of a better future. The music, commenting on the images of the time, involves the audience in a tragicomic narrative of problems that began thirty years ago and continues to the present day.
In the work, the nostalgia of the past is replaced by ironic sound interpretations of the 1980s and 1990s, and in the collage atmosphere, questions inspired by absurd repetitions and sentimental interludes constantly arise: is this all a search for a "Lithuanian" character, or the everyday life of a human being and everyday life?
The work uses video material from the LRT archive: 1989–1991. fragments of the programs "Veidrodis", "Akistata", "Vilnius and Vilnius", "Sekmadieni ryta".
