The director and designer Rimas Driežis came up with the idea of staging Kazis Binkis' children's poem "The Rise of the Hare" in the spirit of the old English balagan puppet show "Punch and Judy". The result is a play in which rebellious hares march into interwar Kaunas, invade the Kaunas theatre and demand that the opera star Kipras Petrauskas stop hunting hares.
This whole patriotic puzzle from the poems and verses of the poet and playwright, the classic of Lithuanian literature, Kazis Binkis (1893-1942), is played virtuosically by a single actress - Lijana Mukhtashvili - with a large number of glove puppets. Children will have fun watching the battles of the hares, while parents will be immersed in the atmosphere of the temporary capital, tinged with nostalgia and irony.
