The subject of childhood is not alien to photographer Rimaldas Vikšraitis, but it has never been a conscious target of his work. This exhibition is an attempt to piece together the story of childhood like a mosaic from individual photographs. Despite a certain fragmentation, the author is easily recognisable in it: for some, as the winner of the Rencontres d'Arles (2009, Discovery of the Year), Europe's largest photography festival, and for others, as an ordinary resident of the region who had a hobby of photography. Time passes slowly in Vikšraitis' photographs. Children's everyday life is no exception. It seems as if the photographs were taken much longer ago than they actually were. Reflections of poor and simple provincial life take the mind back to the ancestral times, when love for children and the time devoted to them were measured differently. When childhood was different. The Vincas Kudirkos Museum (V. Kudirkos g. 29, Kudirkos Naumiestis, Šakiai district) will be open until 1 June 2025.
