Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of artistic director and chief conductor of the orchestra, Lukas Geniušas, will perform at the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra. For the second year in a row, the Lithuanian Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of its Music Director and Conductor Gintaras Rinkevičius, invites you to welcome the summer with solo concerts of the most famous Lithuanian artists. After last year's hugely successful recital by Edgars Montvidas, this year the stage of the LVSO Concert Hall will be given over to one of the most famous Lithuanian pianists, Lukas Geniuš. Geniušas is firmly established as one of the most interesting and outstanding pianists of his generation. Praised for his talent and maturity (The Guardian), he is regularly invited to give recitals in prestigious concert halls around the world, such as London's Wigmore Hall, Amstedarm's Concertgebouw, Paris's Salle Gaveau, the Louvre Auditorium, New York's Frick Collection, Washington DC's Phillips Collection, Genoa's Teatro Carlo Felice, and Milan's Sala Verdi, to mention but a few. His musical repertoire ranges from L. van Beethoven's Piano Concertos to Ludus Tonalis by P. Hindemith and works by J. Adams. He is a passionate admirer of chamber music and an extremely inquisitive performer, who enjoys performing works by contemporary composers or reviving repertoire that is rarely heard in concert halls. His first recording of Prokofiev's piano sonatas, released on Mirare, was awarded the 2019 Choc de Classica and Diapason magazine's Recital of the Year awards. In 2022, together with opera soloist Asmik Grigorian, the pianist won the prestigious Gramophone Classical Music Award for their collaborative work on Sergei Rachmaninoff's album of romances Dissonance.
Born in 1990. Born in Moscow into a family of prominent musicians, Geniušas began his musical career at the age of five at the Chopin College of Music in Moscow, where he graduated with the highest marks in 2008, and then continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatoire, in the class of his grandmother, the renowned piano professor Vera Gornostayeva. Geniušas is a laureate of several prestigious international competitions, including the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 2015 (2nd prize) and the International Chopin Competition in 2010 (2nd prize). Since 2015 Lukas Geniušas has been a participant of the philanthropic project "Looking at the stars" in Toronto.
