Musical situation for ensemble, turntables and basement spaceThe basement is a space pushed behind the well-groomed facade of the city. A room that is often associated with an unpleasant, musty-smelling storage room is a pragmatic, domestic space, where no time is allowed and which is rarely associated as a space for leisure or collective presence. However, basements can develop various acoustic processes. They can become safe spaces from "outside" eyes and ears. For the fringe experimental/improvisational music community, the basement can be a unifying space for unsanctioned exploration. The latter aspects are reflected in the basement of the Art Museum of the Radvil Palace, where the now defunct bar "Woo" used to operate. The stage of purpose of social, acoustic presence is remembered by only a few surviving interior accents: podiums, mini "stage", faded red walls, former toilet rooms...The context of the basement of the Radvilai Palace of Fine Arts Museum and its interior inspired this space to be used once again for its forgotten purpose — a collective sound event. It will create new non-invasive conditions for improvisational music performers. The members of the ensembles "Fleitų 3" and "Laivo Troupe" — creative musicians — will become part of the interaction of acoustic instruments with the acoustics of the basement space and the sound environment of the turntables. The material of the piece is based on extended gramophone techniques and their reorganization for acoustic instruments. The title of the piece, Technics, is a reference to one of the largest turntable manufacturers, whose products are widely used by the most popular experimental turntable artists.
