Actress EMILIJA LATĖNAITĖ invites you to look for answers to these questions in her debut solo performance WHEN YOU REALLY WANT TO LIVE, BUT YOU DON'T KNOW HOW. In the play, k will portray four characters from different eras, countries and social backgrounds who are searching for their identity. Their situations will reveal that times are changing, but the most important questions that arise for a person remain the same. The famous "Duettissimo" cellist GLEB PYŠNIAK and violinist DALIA DĘDINSKAITĖ will play the music of Tarquinis Merula live in the performance.
"When I was creating the characters, I finally started to realize that I was really talking about myself, my identity. Therefore, it is a bright play about meeting yourself. About the moments when you really want to live, but you don't know how," says Emilija Latėnaitė. The actress says that she will not try to influence the audience with effects, but will give everyone the opportunity to meet themselves.
"I turned away from Vilnius. The original characters were based on real historical figures, but after that I wanted to keep it to myself as a source of inspiration. Because I don't have the goal of recreating an accurate historical documentary and conveying it, the actress explains. - For me, history is a way, a tool to understand that you are just a part of the continuum. It's easy to get lost, to think it's just me. There were many before me, and after me, it is necessary to do so that there are many left... This is what history is about. I deliberately "rooted out" many historical parts, I kept them for myself, what I resist, what inspires me. What is a person without a story? We all have a different personal relationship with history, just like with God, that's why His themes will be there..."
