About the event itself:
With the support of one of today's best sound directors, Grammy nominee Vilis Ker, violinist Simona Venslovaitė and pianist Veronika Kopjova in 2021. recorded six sonatas for violin and piano by Lithuanian composers. The world-famous company Naxos was interested in extremely high-quality and professional recordings and wanted to produce them.
It is important for musicians who have lived in different European countries for a long time to remain authentic, faithful to their taste and choices, so they boldly offer listeners to get to know their "close to heart" music.
From the longing for the "sound" of the homeland, a project was born that invites us to look back at the history of Lithuanian academic music - the origins and evolution of the sonata genre for violin and piano. A multi-colored program presenting the 20th century. sonatas by composers of different periods, will allow you to experience the birth, development, and transformation of the genre. We will hear what different expressions of music were created even by composers who lived in a similar era.
However, they all have one important aspect in common - the desire to preserve ethnic identity and national uniqueness through music, combining typical, traditional intonations of Lithuanian music, even quotes from folk songs, with contemporary means of expression.
During the event, rarely performed violin and piano sonatas by Lithuanian composers will be played, and it will be possible to purchase recordings of these works.
