The Vilnius Old Theater presents the premiere - a children's play by director Agne Sunklodayte "My Dad's a Birdman" based on the work of the English writer David Almond. In 2010, D. Almond was awarded the G. H. Andersen Prize for books created in the style of magical realism for children and adolescents. This award is often equated with the Nobel Prize for Children's Literature.“I always knew that I would be a writer: I wrote stories and put them into small books. Frequently visiting the local library, I dreamed of books with my name on the cover. Moreover, I really wanted to play for the Newcastle United football team (still waiting for an invitation),” says D. Almond."My Dad's a Birdman" is an inspiring story about faith, love and the ability to make life more beautiful with the help of fantasy. At the same time, this is a sensual story about a lonely, but very independent girl growing up without a mother, and about a sad, dreaming father who is unable to take care of himself. The girl Lizzie lives in her boundless and complex inner world. She thinks a lot, feels deeply and cares about her eccentric father. And there really is something to worry about: her father decides that he will become a bird and will participate in the World Flying Competition. Bird dad wants his daughter to be proud of him. Together they go on a long journey to grow up, accept each other, and find the wonders hidden in everyday life. Through hope and love, wings can grow in anyone, even strict Aunt Doreen. The performance is in Russian with Lithuanian subtitles Photographer – Inga Juodite
