During the lectures, we will talk about the uniqueness of M. K. Čiurlionis' creative legacy, its importance for Lithuanian culture, the origins and uniqueness of his symbolism in painting, the significance and meaning of the symbols that he mostly used in his paintings. We will discuss the contexts of the creation of M. K. Čiurlionis's pictorial sonatas, their ideas, structure, relationship with the works of other contemporaries.
Lecturer Ričardas Jankauskas graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, majoring in violin. While studying at the academy in the fifth year, he started teaching. He is currently a music, art history, and ethics teacher at the Vilnius Lyceum. Favorite phrase: Learning and not thinking is a futile business, thinking and not learning is dangerous.
