A tale from the J. Basanavičius Folklore Library "How the Fisherman Walked to Heaven"
The fairy tale is not only for children, but also for adults. In order to "redeem" his beloved, the fisherman travels to another world and performs various tasks. And after bravely crossing an unfamiliar world, he returns and wins the girl he has always wanted.
Professor Bronislava Kerbelyte, Doctor of Philology, was consulted on this material. She argues that fairy tales provide a detailed description of man and his aspirations, and raise eternal problems. What is the point of following fairy tales in this way? According to the professor, adults who are distanced from fairy tales often do not find the opportunity to reflect on life and human interactions, forget to ask for advice from fairy tales, and forget to learn a lot about ancestors and human nature from fairy tales, and to pass that knowledge on to their children.
The tale is followed in a theatrical way, using minimalist puppets made from pieces of wood washed up from the sea, various objects and live music performed with canticles, various percussion and wind instruments.
