The exhibition "Interrogations" presents the photographs of A. Kunčius, in which the author observes nature's motifs - "God's creation" - with a leisurely gaze. He waits for the configuration of clouds or the composition of honeysuckle, touched by spring light, which turns into a perfectly formed play of shadows and light on a photographic sheet. "The reportage style does not exist for me", Algimantas Kunčius said in an interview. This refers to the author's desire to stop and slow down when taking photographs. Not to try to catch the most significant moment, but to be present with one's close and observable surroundings, to wait patiently and to press the shutter of the camera only when the surroundings have arranged their optimal image. When the fragments and details of everyday life and nature are arranged in an order that will come alive in the photographic print with its enchanting perfection. The quality of Kunčius's prints is matched by their musicality, the rhythms of light and the pulsation of tones. "The camera has become an instrument for me to "play" Vilnius and my own time", says the artist. Both such cycles and the individual photographs shown in this exhibition can only come into being when you are in harmony with your own time, when pauses and observations are intertwined, when listening is accompanied by surprise. "The exhibition will be on view at Prospektas Gallery (Gedimino Ave. 43, Vilnius) until 11 January 2025.
