Duo Andersson is one of the brightest musicians of the young generation of Lithuania, violinist Julija Ivanovaitė and pianist Paulius Andersson. Laureates of international competitions, who constantly promote the name of Lithuania abroad, aim to present rarely performed works of classical and contemporary music to the public. "We believe that there is a lot of interesting, enriching music that gets less attention - you just have to look for it," say the artists. The duo presents the contemporary music program "Now" to the audience of the Paliesia Manor, reflecting the most pressing problems of modern society.
The first piece to be played during the concert is the three-part opus "Road Movies" by the American post-minimalist John Adams, inspired by the modern way of life - mechanization, globalization and technological progress. Mechanical 1995 The sound world of "Road Movies" created in 2008 invites listeners on a vivid musical journey, during which questions arise: does today's crazy, non-stop pace make us happier? Is globalization bringing us closer together, or is it actually driving us further apart? Can the human spirit and humanity thrive in a mechanized world?
The second part of the "Now" puzzle is "Post Scriptum" Sonata for violin and piano by one of the most prolific Ukrainian composers, Valentin Silvestrov. in 1991 the written work is characterized by Silvestrov's unique musical style, in which elements of the classical tradition merge with avant-garde techniques. This sonata symbolizes the reality of the war in Ukraine, which inevitably permeated all of our lives and the hope that a different tomorrow will emerge very soon.
During the concert, Paliesius Manor listeners will have the unique opportunity to hear the premiere of one of the most famous Lithuanian composers - Vytautas Germanavičius - a work for violin and piano, dedicated especially to the music of Duo Andersson. And "Dabartyje" will conclude the program with one of the most successful modern composers - Turkish musician Fazil Say's Sonata for violin and piano "Mount Ida", which has not yet been performed in Lithuania. in 2019 the created opus is inspired by the themes of global warming and ecology. According to the composer, the theme of this sonata is closely related to 2018. a natural disaster near Mount Ida in Turkey, during which hundreds of thousands of animals and trees were destroyed. The names of the parts of the sonata are telling: the first is "Destruction of Nature", the second is "Wounded Bird", and the third is "Rites of Hope". With an exceptionally attractive musical language and idea, the composer invites us to pay attention to the nature around us and take action to create a better tomorrow.
