Premiere: 2022 At the 9th Onassis Festival of Young Choreographers.A soundtrack created right before our eyes…"MOS"* is a visual interaction of movement, sound and image, in which two performers voice cinematic scenes and series of moving images with the help of original sound devices and a distinctive plastic expression. The two performers play with different sequences of images to convey their own interpretation. The body and its (micro)movements co-exist with objects and materials to act as means of creating sound. The sonic experience grows stronger each time with bursts, distortions, pauses and repeats. Meanwhile, the audience becomes listeners to a temporary soundtrack that unfolds before them. By showing their personal photos, creating an adaptation of a film script or inviting the viewer to choose what they would like to hear, the performers mediate between the archival material and the audience. This work reinforces the narratives that emerge from the coexistence of seemingly incompatible archival sources and enables us to see what is often not easily seen or heard. One of the inspirations for MOS is the "coconut effect", a term used to describe any unrealistic sound effect added to everyday actions to make them stand out. This gives us an audio mix that sounds extremely realistic, but actually isn't. Objects such as bellows, umbrella, piston, etc. are transformed into animated, sound-producing media.* The word/acronym "MOS" has more than 20 definitions.Ioanna Paraskevopoulou is a dancer living in Athens.
