There are many stories of resistance and disobedience, especially the brutal punishments of people in the Soviet Union. Every story deserves to be heard. Often the silent rebellions are overlooked, but their 'simplicity' makes it easier to identify with a person's story and can even make us think. The photographic series Kastutė explores an individual's decision to defy a repressive system and the consequences of this decision. The works examine the motives and circumstances of disobedience, asking who Kastutė was, why she chose this path, and more broadly, who is able or unwilling to take actions that lead to punishment in general. The series also explores the theme of punishment, in particular the historical way in which individuals have been punished by depriving them of the comforts of civilisation and leaving them in a 'natural' environment." The work "Box" was selected by ISSP to be part of Futures! Photography" programme. The exhibition will run until 15 December at the KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens g. 2, Klaipėda).
