The works in faint watercolour and pencil were not addressed to foreign eyes and, like Truman Capote himself, perhaps unexpectedly saw the light of day. The series of drawings, created by Jablonski in one go, stand out from the works he has been creating for more than twenty years because of their conceptual idea, concrete starting point, improvised expression and unifying theme. Linas Jablonskis (b. 1959) is an artist born in Vilnius, living and working here. He holds a diploma in art theory and history from the Lithuanian Art Institute. From 1982 to 2023 he was the head of the Vilnius University Graphic Arts Department. He has created etchings and artist's books, and since 1999 he has been working exclusively with drawings. From 2005 to 2010 he organised the international series of events "Independent Drawing Gig" in Lithuania, North Macedonia, the Netherlands and the USA. The author's most important solo exhibitions include "Drawings" at the Akademija Gallery in Vilnius (2012), "Lettres du guerre" at the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius (2009) and "Soft Fashion" at the Antanas Montis House-Museum in Palanga (2002). The artist's works have been exhibited in group exhibitions at the National Art Gallery in Vilnius, the Contemporary Art Centre in Vilnius, SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin, Ibid. Projects in London, Baltic Art Centre on Gotland Island, Art in General in New York, etc. Jablonskis' works have been acquired by the Lithuanian National Museum of Art, the MO Museum, the VUB Graphic Cabinet, the Latvian National Museum of Art and Osnabrück University. The exhibition will be open at the KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens g. 2, Klaipėda) until 15 December.
