Tonight's concert will open to us a real treasure of Italian baroque music - a unique repertoire that has left a deep impression on the music of all of Europe. The core of the program consists of music pieces for flute and harpsichord, instruments that were particularly popular in the 18th century. composers who used them both for solo performance and for chamber or orchestral sound. According to the baroque authors, the flute is able to convey the softest and at the same time the brightest tones, primarily due to its expressive timbre and virtuosic characteristics. Meanwhile, the harpsichord has become the most iconic voice of the baroque: without it, a baroque concert is hard to imagine, and the unique repertoire created for the harpsichordist allowed him to shine as a soloist.
The composers selected for the concert perfectly convey the musical spirit of their time. Some of them lived and created exclusively in Italy, where they perfected the famous stile italiano, others nurtured this style in foreign countries, became soloists praised by the public and published works that toured the most important musical centers of the continent.
In the program: Sonatas for flute and harpsichord by Pietro Antonio Locatelli, Tomaso Albinoni, Anna Bon, Pietro Domenico Paradisi, Domenico Scarlatti.
