Program Excerpts from R. Strauss's comic opera The Cavalier of the Rose. Songs by R. Strauss. "Rose Cavalier" is a charming opera full of love, gallantry, misunderstandings and secret desires. This is a waltz element filled with the spirit of Vienna and the aristocracy, elegance, grace and subtle humor characteristic of this center of musical culture. This opera (composed in 1911) is called one of the greatest masterpieces of German and European opera. Its action takes place in 18th century Vienna, the capital of a powerful empire, during the reign of Empress Maria Theresa. In the usual intrigue, when a rich man tries to marry his daughter to a noble old baron with financial difficulties, but true love destroys his plans, nevertheless, the character of the Marshal emerges as the central figure, embodying what is not funny in this comic opera... Fragments of the opera will be played in the theatrical concert at the Užutrakis Palace. Although not all the characters will appear in this program, their lives on stage will be no less intriguing. The complex role of the Marshal will be played by opera prima donna Joana Gedmintaitė.
