in 2015 written "Sculpture" is the latest play by the popular German author Marius von Mayenburg. The epicenter of the play is a well-to-do, standard European family, whose average and peaceful life is disrupted when the cleaner Jessica appears in the family. She unexpectedly unbalances the established relationship and even becomes the "muse" of the cynical artist Haulupa. There are not many external events in the play, but the action unfolds very dramatically, the characters' dialogues marked by witty, light irony and humor prevent boredom. In the play, scene after scene, between his wife Ulrike, her husband Michael and their son Vincent, a deeper and deeper spiritual void emerges. The narrative of the play, which began on a realistic and logical note, gradually takes on a strangely distorted and irrational form...
The main "message" of the drama seems to be embodied in the cynical art installation "Social sculpture" conceived by family friend Haulupa. Her idea is as follows - food waste is thrown by the machine, and throughout the hours of visiting the installation, it is cleaned by an expatriate cleaner from a "third country" - Jessica. What is this - art or human exploitation and how does this installation differ from the reality of a frequent emigrant? According to the director Paulius Ignatavičius, the performance raises questions, why do we tend to run away from reality and truth? How many vestiges of classist, sexist and racist thinking remain in Western thinking, albeit disguised in every way?
