A well-known fairy tale, enriched with love and the wisdom of life. The friendship of young children, which helps them overcome difficulties, grows into love. The play celebrates the bond between them, but the director, theatre maestro Vitalijus Mazūras, does not get sentimental, emphasising that the bond is strengthened by going through difficulties together.
H.K. Andersen, who saw life from the point of view of a child, a poet and a philosopher, created fairy tales that reflect many of the patterns of child psychology. In his work, objects, animals and plants are humanised, and behind their quite unchildlike vices lies the essence of life and human relationships, compassion and sadness at life's imperfections.
