In spring 2023, two famous bands - Sweden's Soilwork and Canada's Kataklysm - will join forces and embark on a joint European tour, which will include a visit to Lithuania. Both bands have performed separately in our country in the last decade, but this will be the first time they will be coming together. They will be joined on this tour by the US band Wilderun and another special guest to be announced later. This massive extreme metal package will play at Vilnius club Vakaris on 12 April.
Soilwork, a legend of melodic death metal, started its career in 1995 in Helsingborg, Sweden. Formed by the charismatic vocalist and band leader Bjorn Strid and guitarist Peter Wichers, the band was originally called Inferior Breed. Soon after changing their name to Soilwork, the young musicians released their debut album Steelbath Suicide in 1998.
After several changes of musicians, a new contract with the major record label Nuclear Blast and two more albums, the band's biggest success came with the release of Natural Born Chaos in 2002. This was the first Soilwork record to be produced by the renowned Dewin Townsend, a popular Canadian musician, composer and producer who has led his own band Strapping Young Lad in the past and is currently pursuing a successful solo career. Soilwork's sixth studio album, Stabbing The Drama, was even more acclaimed when the band presented it on its first world tour. Today, Soilwork has already released twelve studio albums, the latest of which, Övergivenheten (2022), is set to be released on tour next year.
