theater critic Lina Klusaite: «The play that did not take place» is a performance conceived by Andryus Daryalai dedicated to the premiere of the play «Marusya Churai», which did not take place in the Mariupol theater due to tragic circumstances. According to the director, in connection with the recent bombings, viewers are obliged to familiarize themselves with the basements of theaters, because the purpose of these premises is no longer only aesthetic. Как и текстов. In the performance, Andryus Daryala used documentary materials, in particular, the testimony about the bombed city of Mariupol journalist Nadia Sukhorukova, published daily on her Facebook account. The actresses who read these testimonies tell the true stories of the residents of Mariupol, therefore, wandering around the basements of the theater, you can feel the whole horror of the experiences experienced by the people barricaded in the shelters. On my part, I offer some subtle statements of Nadia Sukhorukova, which sounded during the performance:
«Самые отважные очень пели. Right in the basement, under bombs. I listened and admired. Although the mouse is not always perfect and hitting the notes was approximate. Songs performed for children. So that they were not so afraid during the shelling.
It was strange to hear singing and explosions at the same time. The explosions were noticeable and close. The songs came through like cotton wool. Sounds of familiar melodies seemed to be heard over the water. It's an impression that you're sinking, and someone is singing on the surface.
There is no more on my street. Other people walk on it. The street thinks I'm dead. Погибла в время бемежки. After all, she almost died too.
The street thinks it will never hear my footsteps again. There is no light on in my room. My face will not appear in the window. My house now looks like a bespectacled guy who had a fight with a bully. Not one whole glass and a collapsed roof.
The performance will take place in the corridors and basement of the theater (on the Russian street).
Attention! Smoke and bright flashes of light are used in the performance.
