A journey full of adventure and wonder awaits you in the mysterious world of Theatre. Curious parents and their children aged 5 and up are welcome to join us on a tour of the Vilnius Little Theatre. Ilona Kvietkutė, an actress of the Vilnius Maly Theatre, has created a unique programme of a theatrical excursion, which will allow the participants to open the door to the special space of the Vilnius Maly Theatre building, will remind you of the century-old history of the building at 22 Gediminas Avenue, and will invite you to the places where ordinary spectators usually do not get a chance to go - the backstage, the rehearsal hall, the grimmer's room, the warehouse of the costumes, and the workshop of the artistic techniques.
The main part of the tour will take place on the stage of the Little Theatre, where you will be amazed by actress Ilona Kvietkutė's ability to instantly create 100 characters,. You will learn how different moods are created with the help of light and sound effects, how the storm, fog, lightning and the elements are born on the stage, and how you can move from the city to the countryside in an instant.
Vilnius Little Theatre is located at 22 Gediminas Avenue, where the Rūta Society, which was very important for Lithuanian culture in the beginning of the 20th century, used to operate. "Rūta organised concerts, lectures and theatre performances. The most prominent cultural figures of the time, signatories of the Act of Independence, took part in the society's activities. From the very beginning, the building was shrouded in a spirit of exclusivity and an aura of legend, associated with the most famous Lithuanian symbolist painters, such as Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Czesław Milosz, Jascha Heifetz and other famous names. The architecture of the building is also exceptional: the auditorium has a unique glass-block ceiling, of which there are only two in Europe - here in Vilnius and in Prague. The interior of the theatre's premises is characterised by a tasteful blend of authentic turn-of-the-century style and modernism.
We invite you to become the great wizards of Theatre Art for one hour!
