TEMU/A is an ironic take on the Chinese online shop that gives shoppers the opportunity to buy directly from well-known low-cost Chinese manufacturers. It offers to play spin-the-wheel games or invite other people to shop there, for which they receive credits that can be used to pay for their purchases. In addition, the prices are so low that the buyer is promised to shop like a millionaire. Most shoppers are attracted by the huge variety of products and the extremely low prices, and over the years it has become the most downloaded shopping app in the world. This exhibition therefore invites you to go on a quest - not only to find things that have been appropriated or made, but also to reflect on the essence of ceramics. Recalling Marcel Duchamp's famous practice of 'ready made', whereby a simple domestic object becomes a work of art or part of a work of art when transplanted into a different cultural environment, we are presenting just such artefacts. All of the works on display are created using cast-offs of natural forms, real industrial objects and various edible products. The exhibition will be open at the VDA Outdoor Gallery + 1000 (Maironio g. 6, Vilnius) until 3 March.
