"Father's Toys" is a story about actors stuck in the twists and turns of purgatory, who try to find redemption, forgiveness and salvation while rehearsing their own lives. The actors, guided by the mysterious Director, become chess pieces pushed by the Director and try to discover the most unexpected moves that will lead to the much-desired redemption. However, not all chess games are easy to understand, not all are winnable. Sometimes you have to play again and again to find that one, most correct, fateful move - defeating death. But does such a move exist? Maybe the Director is trying in vain to find a way to salvation and his fight against evil is fruitless?
"Father's Toys" is a reflection of our society. Society, which must take collective responsibility for everything that happens around us, and if they don't do it, sooner or later they will be judged and have to atone for all their sins, but not as a society, but as each of its individuals individually. And it will no longer matter whether we repent while still living here on Earth or after we have already departed for Eternity - we will all have to search for the Truth. Truths that we have hidden for all kinds of reasons - to protect each other from pain, to protect ourselves, to fear punishment, or simply not wanting to admit that we made a mistake. The burden of mistakes and guilt can be lightened if we admit our mistakes and stop playing with our lives and those of our loved ones. Sometimes we play this game with the best of intentions, but in any case, this game leads to destruction, because only "the truth will set you free."
It is in such labyrinths of the game created by himself that Father and five residents of his house - Mēta, Paulė, Anė, Gvidas and Pani Helia - have found themselves, who become a kind of Father's toys in search of atonement for their sins. The director is the guide of this game, aiming for the best possible ending for everyone. Meanwhile, Christ becomes a saboteur, who disagrees with the rules of the game and directs its entire course in an unexpected and unexpected direction, revealing a long-hidden truth that was used to cover up the unbearable guilt of every participant in the game.
"Daddy's Toys" is a journey through our own conscience, looking at the action taking place on the stage, which reflects our society, its powerlessness and division, its inability to stop the crazy merry-go-round of lynching, where everyone is guilty and everyone is right. "Father's Toys" is also an extraordinary vision of the playwright Dalia Urnevičiūtė-Pilėnienė, asking for decades, like an arrow that hit the target directly, launched more than 55 years ago. At the same time, the sharp eye of the playwright analyzes the most tragic wound of the Second World War in a generalized mood that fits in one word "guilt". For this analysis, the playwright chose the "theatre within the theater" principle. "Dad's Toys" was born as a play within a play and in the production of director Marta Wendland.
During the performance, wonderful and well-known music from the forties, which has already become a classic, will be played.
