Tonight, you will be invited to listen to wonderful music by the father and son duo of the most famous Lithuanian pianists, Petros and Lukas Geniuš. The program will include works by: F. Schubert, E. Grieg, G. Enescu, G. Gershwin.
LUKAS GENIUŠAS, winner of significant international awards, is one of the most interesting and prominent pianists of his generation. Praised for his talent and maturity (The Guardian), he is regularly invited to perform recitals in the world's most prestigious concert halls, such as London's Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, Paris' Salle Gaveau, Louvre Auditorium, Genoa's Teatro Carlo Felice, Milan's Sala Verdi and others. He is also regularly invited to appear at festivals such as La Roque d'Anthéron, Piano aux Jacobins, Schloss Elmau, Reingau, Ruhr and Lockenhaus Music Festivals, solo concerts with the Philharmonie de la Radio de France, the National de Lyon, the NHK Symphony, Birmingham Symphony, Stavanger Symphony, Warsaw Philharmonic and other famous orchestras. Lukas Geniuš's repertoire is very diverse - he performs music from baroque to contemporary compositions, and also presents repertoire rarely heard in concert halls. His discography, which includes music by L. van Beethoven, J. Brahms, S. Rachmaninov, F. Chopin, M. Ravel, I. Stravinsky, D. Shostakovich and other composers, has been highly praised by critics.
Among the Lithuanian performers, prof. PETRAS GENIUŠAS stands out for his versatility of interests and constant, often risky search for new forms of expression, unusual musical and spiritual experiences. Having mastered a wide repertoire of classical, romantic and contemporary works, he organizes recitals and performs as a soloist with Lithuanian symphony orchestras, various chamber ensembles and soloists, conductors. In addition to his regular concert activities in Lithuania, Mr. Geniušas has gained international recognition for his performances in more than forty countries around the world and in the world's most famous concert halls - Lincoln Center's Alice Tully and Avery Fisher halls in New York, Tokyo's Geijitsu Geikijo and Vienna's Musikverein. For his extensive concert and creative activities, Petras Geniuš was awarded: the Lithuanian National Art and Culture Prize (1992). World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Prize (2004). in 2011 Petras Geniušas was awarded the Ministry of Culture's badge of honor "Carry your light and believe". in 2015 awarded with the Knight's Cross of the Grand Duke Gediminas Order of Lithuania.
