"His face was quite old, but from the way he walked, you could tell he was only in his twenties. He, with the face of an old man, sat down next to them on a bench. He was holding a watch. He had stopped…”
In November, Vilnius University (VU) Drama Theater presented the premiere performance "Hour 00" (directed by Felicija Feiferė). The performance invites to analyze the topic of (in)visible war, encourages discussion about where social conflicts come from and examines the state of a modern young person in today's troubled world. Additional screenings - on March 10 and 14, at 7 p.m. VU Theater Hall, University St. 3.
About the performance
What is the journey home from the war front like? Is Home Found Still Home? Perhaps death after such experiences, according to the writer Wolfgang Borchert, could be quite bearable? Hour 00 separates the horrible past from the present, when you don't know where to go and what awaits you for a second. The hero of the play is persistently searching for his place in the post-war world, where the everyday Paradise is gone.
V. Borcherts is one of the most talented representatives of post-war German literature who survived the horrors of war. His experience, connection with his time and people determined the dominant theme of his work - the fate of the young generation who returned from the war. The background of the Second World War, which reflects today's realities, constantly forces us to search for an answer to the question "what next?"
The creators of the show, sensitively searching for an answer to this question, create theatrical pictures on the topical themes of V. Borchert's work, inviting us to understand what values the current generation lives by and to examine how it differed from the generation of their parents and grandparents. "Hour 00" is a state where time stops for a moment, an end occurs somewhere, and a new beginning comes elsewhere.
The project is organized by VU Culture Center.
The project is financed by the Lithuanian Council of Culture.
