On the second day of Christmas, 26th December, at 18:00, the Church will host a special event. The Vilnius University Chamber Orchestra invites the residents and guests of the capital city to the Christmas concert "Christmas Eve", which has become a tradition.

The repertoire of the Christmas concert will include the familiar works that guarantee an uplifting festive mood and for the first time in Lithuania, Jean-Miches Damase's Concertino, which is enchanting with the charm of 20th-century French music, and which will be performed by the harpist Giedra Julija Tutkutė together with the Orchestra. The orchestra will be accompanied by soloists Rokas Skarulskis (cello) and Milda Drejerytė (soprano).

"Jean-Michel Damase's Concertino is characterised by a graceful melodic style, combining the structures of classical music with modern harmony and melody reminiscent of the work of the French impressionists. This challenging work gives the soloist the opportunity to showcase her technical skills as well as her artistry and sensitivity. "Concertino is distinguished by its joyful and light emotional palette, energy and melodic richness, which will create a playful atmosphere and pleasantly surprise the listener," Modestas Jankūnas, Artistic Director of the Vilnius University Chamber Orchestra, said about the work, performed for the first time in Lithuania.

Founded in 1979, the Vilnius University Chamber Orchestra has become an integral part of Lithuania's musical life for more than four decades. The orchestra performs not only in the largest halls of Lithuania's largest cities, but also in various European cities and in the farthest corners of the world - from Mexico to Beijing. Its repertoire ranges from Baroque masterpieces to classical, romantic and modern music.
