The concert invites you to experience another effect of a special combination - voices and cello. The cello is said to have the same range as the human voice and is considered the most human instrument. Therefore, the harmony of voices and cello in this concert promises a cozy, human and emotionally bright evening.
The highlight of the art of choral performance - Šiauliai State Chamber Choir "Polifonija" (artistic director Linas Balandis), which recently won the first place and Grand Prix in one of the largest international competitions "Golden Voices of Montserrat" in Spain, invites you to immerse yourself in the music of strings and choir. We will also hear music by Julija Ivanovaitė (violin, viola) and Kornelija Kupšytė (cello), the performers will be conducted by Imantas Jonas Šimkus.
The music will be played by authors whose names, when you hear them, you immediately think of special beauty, melodiousness, harmony, meaning, even sacredness. Briton John Tavener opens the soul in the simple language of music, inviting the listener - whether he is a believer or not - to contemplate the great mystery of human existence; the works of Latvian Pēteris Vaskas raise timeless questions about life and death, harmony and chaos and, of course, nature. "I cannot live without nature, birds are like a symbol for me. A symbol of clean nature, clean conscience. I write about birds - I think about people," says P. Vaskas. Ērik Ešenvaldas was already known all over the world when he was only 25 years old. Since then, he has been the most famous creator of Latvian choral music, awarded with the highest state and artistic awards, and his work is willingly performed by choirs all over the world. Norwegian Ola Gjeilo lives and creates in New York, so his work is influenced by the rhythm of the city. His works, written in an attractive, modern musical language, seem to draw from the city a rich, multi-layered, spatial sound, from which also come the motifs of human creativity.
