The national theater festival for children and youth started in 2008. Initiative of Klaipėda Fishermen's Chamber and Youth Theater "Be Duru". 2008-2014 this festival was called "Ledinė zylutė", and since 2015 - "NEW YEAR'S DAY"."Jaunatis" is an opportunity for children, schoolchildren and students of the port city and the region of Western Lithuania, all young people (without emphasizing the age limit) and the active theater audience to see the latest performances of Lithuanian theaters, which have received favorable reviews from theater critics, favorites of other theater festivals organized in the country, "Golden stage cross" laureates and nominees. The audience of the festival ranges from the smallest audience to...The festival is not limited to drama performances. The range of genres is very wide: these are musical and dance performances, pantomime, clowning, and humorous theatrical concerts. The organizers of each festival try to coordinate the program in such a way that children (and their parents) or young people of various ages choose according to their maturity and needs - for whom is a fairy tale, and for whom a play dealing with issues relevant to young people.
The amateur theater groups that dominated the first festivals were gradually replaced by professional theaters and troupes and performers, who fully increased the artistic value and importance of the event.

In 2021 the festival did not take place due to the covid pandemic.
