For many of us, childhood games are inseparable from hide-and-seek - staffs made of tree branches, tables covered with sheets, under which it was safer to wait out the end of a thunderstorm, or secrets planted in the ground, which were destined to be found only by selected treasure hunters. In childhood, we usually play hide and seek, and as adults we remember them, unfortunately, not in the best circumstances. And yet, after two years spent under the constraints of the pandemic, "hiding places" have become even more relevant - after all, many of us have spent them "hiding" from other people or looking for our own private space in a house full of housemates. Such forced permanence together showed that having one's own secret place, be it external or internal, is important to both big and small man.
It will be possible to find a hiding place, hide in it or watch the world and others from a safe place in the Klaipėda Puppet Theater Educational Center's interactive exhibition "Dzotukes", created by film and theater artist, illustrator Antanas Dubra. Secret places are called dzotukei in Dzūkija, where Antanas, the artist of the exhibition, spent his childhood summers (of course, hiding and picking mushrooms). The exhibition "Dzotukės" is balanced for families, organized groups of students or pupils, groups of friends and those who are determined to find friends in "Dzotukės".
Antanas Dubra is an active and versatile artist who creates scenographies for performances, draws posters, illustrates books, organizes group and individual exhibitions. Street culture is also important to Antanas, you can see many of his graffiti in Vilnius. Themes of interest to the creator are mysticism, magical, macabre and maybe even diabolical things, he is no stranger to escapism, humor, looking at reality from a different angle.
