To celebrate the national holiday - February 16 - traditionally, the greatest forces of Lithuanian creators and performers gather at the National Philharmonic. The collectives that have been cooperating for more than a decade - the National Symphony Orchestra and the Kaunas State Choir and soloists - invite you to hear new works by Lithuanian authors and the opus "Resurrection Oratorio" by the famous composer and sincere Lithuanian patriot Vytautas Barkauskas (1931-2020) at the festive concert. With this work, the creator summed up his civic, Christian position in a meaningful way and expressed his hope for the survival of the state and its prosperity.
In the summer of 2023, the latest work of Algirdas Martinaitis, the oratorio "Invocations of Faith and Hope", was performed for the first time, dedicated to the commemoration of Deportees and Political Prisoners announced by the Government. Four parts of the oratorio will also be played on this solemn evening. "At the time of the current war and world turmoil, the great suffering of exile and imprisonment of the people of Lithuania after the war must become a sacred memory, a sacred reflection for the present and the future..." - says the author.
Composer Jonas Jurkūnas also reflects on the human being in his latest opus "About Being" - it will have its world premiere. The work was inspired and its compositional structure was determined by the poet Donald Kajok's quatrain from the collection "Karvedys vargo nagaleti". As is typical of J. Jurkūnas's compositions, the poetic thought is the basis of the idea here, and the colorful narrative is conveyed by an orchestral score. The soloists are young, talented performers: harpist Joana and cellist Elena Daunytės.The patron of the concert is His Excellency the President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda
