Up there, high above, on the soft clouds, is a wonderful dreamland. Ma and Nu live in that land. Colourful, beautiful, happy little people - the Manliuses. They work very hard because every day they send beautiful colourful dreams to the children. Ma and Nu bring a big wagon to get ready for work, and here... Who sleeps in their wagon? What a strange thing: it's black and white and his name is Liu. Liu, do you know how to make dreams? He doesn't understand anything. He can't even walk... Oh, what a nice job Ma and Nu have in store! Well, try, Liu! The journey has begun.
"Manlouki is a performance of movement, music and colour for children aged 6-36 months. Using the principles of sign language for hearing babies and toddlers, the creators aim to help little ones to tame their emotions through their relationship with colours. Sign language has been scientifically proven to avoid misunderstandings and to communicate more effectively before the child speaks.
Gintarė Latvėnaitė-Glušajeva, the author and director of the idea of "Manuliukų", says: "I want to help children understand this complex world faster. Let it begin with colours, movements and sounds. Let it be colourful and sensual. I want mothers to relax for at least 40 minutes, or to see their child differently."
Please note: the performance is "watchable". The children have to stay in the audience and only the actors are on stage.
The play was created and presented at the State Small Theatre of Vilnius on 1 December 2019. It will be adapted and performed at the children's theatre "Home" from December 2022.
