The classical music concert will explore the cultural ties between Lithuania and Poland
The Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Jan Olszewski Foundation "Support to Poles in the East" on November 7. invites you to a two-part free classical music concert at the Vilnius Town Hall "Musical Bridges: Šopenas, Mickevičius, Moniuška. Meeting between Lithuania and Poland". The event will aim to reveal the deep cultural ties between Lithuania and Poland, bring together the musical heritage of both nations and show the influence of Vilnius on the creation of Polish classics.
The evening will begin with a commented recital by the famous pianist Marek Bracha. Frederik Chopin's "Ballads" will be performed during it, which in turn were inspired by the ballads and romances of his friend, the poet Adam Mickevičius who lived in Vilnius.
The second part of the concert will consist of opera - mainly works by Stanisław Moniuszka, performed by the popular singers of the Polish National Opera Theater in Warsaw (Teatr Wielki) - Tomasz Rak (baritone), Joanna Motulewicz (mezzo-soprano) and Rafał Żurek (tenor). The Baltostogė string quartet "Consort 415" (conductor Amadeusz Buczyński) will play alongside, which has repeatedly created a musical environment for literary meetings. This performance will aim to demonstrate classical Polish opera to Vilnius residents and reveal the strong influence of Vilnius and Lithuania on it. During the breaks, the hosts of the event will tell interesting historical facts about Moniuška's connections with Vilnius.
Entrance to the concert at the town hall will be free of charge, but in order to manage the flow of visitors, guests are asked to purchase a free ticket in the "Kakava.lt" system.
The event is partially financed from the state budget of the Republic of Poland - funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The concert is also sponsored by "ORLEN Lietuva", partners Vilnius Polish Culture House, Vilnius Polish Theater "Studija" and VšĮ "Polska Scena Muzyczna na Litwie" contribute to it.
