The lead role of the beast Jahan Falstaff in this last film by J. Verdi's opera will be performed by German baritone Michael Volle. Maestro Daniele Rustioni will conduct this charmingly constructed Shakespearean comedy (the opera's libretto is based on the "Pranks of Windsor" and some episodes of "Henry IV"), with sopranos Hera Hyesang Park and Ailyn Pérez, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, contralto Marie-Nicole Lemieux, and baritone Christopher Maltman on stage. The last of the 28 works by J. Verdi's Falstaff is only the composer's second comedy. The first, the ill-fated Day of the Reign, was more than 50 years in the making.
