The winner of the 13th International Frederic Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Philippe Giusiano (France) is recognized as a benchmark in performing the works of the Polish composer. He participated in this competition for the first time at the age of seventeen and after returning five years later, in 1995, he became the leader. After the release of the second CD with Chopin's works, music critics wrote: "... the feeling that Chopin himself played like this". (O. Bellamy - le Monde de la Musique). After success in one of the most famous competitions in the world, Philippe Giusiano was ranked among the best pianists and this gave him the opportunity to perform in the biggest concert halls, including Carnagie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Teatro Verona, La Scala in Milan, Théâtre des Champs-Elizées and Salle Gaveau in Paris, Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
Philippe Giusiano has participated in many festivals in France - La Roque d'Anthéron, where he is regularly invited, Chaise-Dieu, Aix-en-Provence, Chopin chez George Sand La Châtre, Chopin Festival Bagatelle, La Folle Journée, Berlioz Festival and abroad - Ravello Festival in Italy, Ruhr Festival in Germany, Chopin i jego Europa Festival in Warsaw, Duszniki Chopin Festival, Antonin Chopin Festival in Poland. He goes on concert tours in Germany, Japan, Austria, Poland, Russia, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Denmark, Lithuania, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Canada and the Middle East. He performs with many outstanding orchestras and conductors, including Antoni Wit, Krzysztof Penderecki, Philippe Entremont, Kazimierz Kord, Yutaka Sado, Jacek Kaspszyk, Grzegorz Nowak, Marek Pijarowski.
In commemoration of the 200th anniversary of F. Chopin's birth, Philippe Giusiano successfully performed in France, Spain, the Middle East, Japan, Poland and Scandinavia, performing all of Chopin's works for solo piano and with orchestra.
The CDs dedicated to the music of Chopin and Rachmaninov released in France and Japan were very well appreciated by critics and audiences. Compact albums with Chopin's 24 Etudes and 24 Preludes have been recognized worldwide. in 2017 An album dedicated to Chopin's early works was recorded and released by order of the Chopin Institute in Warsaw.
In addition to his artistic career, the pianist regularly conducts master classes in Poland and Japan. 2008 - 2020 he was a visiting professor at the Heisei College of Music in Kumamoto, Japan.
in 2019 was invited to the jury of the 2nd International Chopin Name Competition held in Beijing, and in October 2019 - a member of the jury at the prestigious XVIII Frederic Chopin Name Competition in Warsaw.
Philippe Giusiano studied at the Conservatoire de Région Pierre Barbizet in Marseille and later at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Dance Jacques Rouvier in Paris, graduating at the age of 16. Later, after receiving a scholarship, he studied at the Salzburg Mozarteum. During his studies, he won many prizes in national and international piano competitions.
in 2012 Philippe Giusiano was awarded the Medal of the City of Marseille for special services to the cultural life of his hometown. In 2023, Poland awarded the title of Ambassador of Polish Culture for the promotion of Polish music and culture around the world.
