From the first minute, the viewer is immersed in the sensory space of images, sound and thought. He is given the privilege of watching the actors on stage and seeing his reflection in a huge mirror. Surrounded by silhouette projections, one of the most famous figures born in Kaunas of the 20th century spreads. Texts, thoughts, fragments of interviews of French and European philosophers Emmanuel Levin. They gradually penetrate the listener and observer. Responsibility - the key category of E. Levin evokes a confrontation with one's personal "responsibility", the relationship with the Other, humanity... What do I see in the Other's face? What makes me human? The performance "Veidas/Visage" is dedicated to the memory of the philosopher Emmanuel Levin (1906-1995) and the theatrical actualization of his ideas. This is a joint project with the Theater d'Esch of the city of Luxembourg (Théâtre d'Esch), born from the search for common points of contact between the 2022 European Capitals of Culture - Kaunas and Esch. Philosopher and humanist Emmanuel Levinas, who was born in Kaunas and lived in France, became this bridge, the connecting link. "Usually, philosophy is seen as abstract and complicated, and with this performance we want to show that this is not the case. For me personally, philosophy helps me think about my life and actions - I think it should accompany us every day", says the author of the play's idea and producer, director Vincent Adelus. The premiere is part of the "Kaunas - European Capital of Culture 2022" program.
