450 years ago, Jesuit monks arrived in Vilnius and saw the palace the bishop had bought for them, and they were delighted: the third most beautiful in the city! Today, the labyrinthine courtyards of the old Vilnius University complex are at first confusing to anyone entering for the first time, but soon the centuries-old doors begin to swing open, and the most famous people of science, culture and art in Lithuania have walked through their thresholds. For what offences have students been sent to the charnel house? Why was the street next to the university once paved with wooden cobblestones? How many books from the famous library of King Sigismund Augustus, bequeathed to the university, actually made it there? How many St. John's can be accommodated in St. How many St. John's Churches can accommodate? Whose grave, with the most beautiful sarcophagus, is in the Faculty of Philology? And then there are the zodiac signs adorning the walls of the Observatory, the mythical world of ancient Lithuanians in the low-slung Aisci Menorah, and the Monument to Love, proof of physicists' eternal love for philologists."
From here, we soar to the stars!"
