VILNIUS - CITY OF SINS  author's excursion

On Sunday, 14 April at 15:00 I invite you to an unusual excursion.

We will take a walk through the most entertaining and piquant corners of our city, find out where the proletariat, bohemia and the aristocracy used to spend their time in the city. Among other things, I'll tell you about:

• the history of Vilnius' first taverns, candy shops, restaurants, hotels and nightclubs;
• how and where the citizens of Vilnius had fun during the times of the Tsarist empire, as a part of the Republic of Poland and the USSR, and we will recall a number of anecdotes from those times;
• where was the Red Light Quarter in Vilnius, who were the Vilnius prostitutes and their clients;
• about the most bohemian places of the recent past and the vicious "stairway of death" that led to the death of many a talented member of the Vilnius intelligentsia;
• where and how the informal youth of Vilnius spent their time 30 years ago, and where they are spending their time now.

Of course, I will also tell you about the most unusual and interesting places in Vilnius today, in my opinion. This will be the practical part of the tour. After this tour, you will be able to get to know today's savoury Vilnius in person. Along the way, we will stop at a few places that are also worth telling you about. Among others, you will see one of the city's informal youth venues - the bar "BIX", the student "Etmonų Špunka", and the legendary restaurant "Neringa".
