What is an accordion? What kind of music is appropriate to play with it? On 6 May 1829, a new instrument called the accordion was patented. This day has been adopted by the Confédération Internationale des Accordionistes (CIA) as World Accordion Day and is celebrated in many countries. The accordion is one of the youngest and most colourful instruments in the musical world, and it is still developing technically. Its repertoire ranges from new original works of contemporary music to charming transcriptions of classics, from classical to jazz, from folk to pop. The accordion can be heard as a solo instrument, playing in various ensembles, accompanying others, making friends with a symphony orchestra or in a large orchestra of accordionists.
On this occasion, the Lithuanian National Accordionists' Union is organising a colourful accordion music event. You will hear classical masterpieces as well as a big orchestra. The concert will feature the best and most musical laureates of the 5th Lithuanian National Accordion Competition - Germanas Manzūrovas, Andrii Panasiuk, Jonas Vozbutas, Motiejus Dudnikas, Justas Balachovičius, Robertas Valutis, Augustas Jasiukevičius, the trio Metaccord, the duo of Adrijs and Ervidas Balčiūnas, the trio of the Music School of Alytus, and the trio of the J. Čiurlionytė School of Arts sextet, Vilnius Karoliniškės Music School accordion orchestra.
We invite you to spend a wonderful time together, which will stop the moments and make you plunge into the frenzy of unforgettable melodies!
