After the fall of the Iron Curtain, music journalist Rūta and her father Edek, a Holocaust survivor, embark on a journey through their native Poland. Their journey takes them to Warsaw, Lodz, Krakow and the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Ruth wants to discover her roots and explore her family history. Edek, who made the decision to leave Poland once and for all and to come to terms with the past, accompanies his daughter primarily to look after her.
