How to tell the story of a man whose activities spanned the entire decades of Lithuania's turning point in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, but were so inconsistent that they were misunderstood by his contemporaries and aroused not only anger but also fear? Although the works of Jonas Šliūpas are significant and interesting, we avoid heroising this controversial personality and retouching his controversial ideas that did not fit in at the time. That is why we have chosen stories from Miglė Anušauskaitė's comic strip to tell the story of the exhibition, which allows us to look at the colourful life of Jonas Šliūpas with irony and charmingly reveals his human characteristics. The exhibition will be located in the Museum's entrance and will be open to Palanga residents and visitors. It will provide a more in-depth insight into Šliūpas's personality and activities until a permanent exhibition is installed in the museum. We believe that there will be those who will hear about him for the first time and thus "encounter" him on the street, right next to the garden of his former home, where the old burgomaster of Palanga used to spend his leisure time smoking his pipe.
