Yevgenii Musijets (Ukraine) / Shalom Culture Palanga
June 7, 8 pm. Shalom Culture & & Music Festival concert will take place at Palanga Kurhaus Concert Hall on June 20, 7pm, featuring an exceptional programme by bayan virtuoso Yevgenii Musijets from Ukraine. The event will feature works by J.S. Bach, A. Vivaldi, J. Sibelius, R. Ruggieri, M. Legrand, works by Ukrainian composers V. Vlasov, Y. Derbenko, V. Zubitsky, S. Voitenko, B. Mironchuk, and interpretations of Jewish melodies.
Yevgenii Musijets (Євгеній Мусієць) is a fifth-generation bayan player. As a boy of 4, he started learning to play with his grandfather, and by the age of 5 he was already performing on stage. Yevgeny played his first solo concert at the age of 7. He graduated from the Uzhgorod College of Music. He received his higher education (Bachelor's and Master's degrees) at Mukachevo State University. He is a laureate of many republican and international competitions and festivals. He has recorded the CD "Revelation". Since 2017 he has been playing in the collective "YeS Duet" with which he has performed in many European countries and Israel. Yevgeny is married and has a daughter with his wife Alena.
The Shalom Culture & Music Festival will take place from May to October and will visit 11 Lithuanian cities and towns. The almost half-year-long Jewish Music & Culture Festival will feature classical and contemporary composers, klezmer melodies, jazz improvisations, exhibitions and artistic activities. Musicians and singers from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, Germany and Israel will participate in the festival. This year's festival programme will include over 20 concerts in concert halls in Vilnius, Kaunas, Šiauliai and Palanga, in the Old Zapyškis Church, in synagogues in Alytus, Joniškis, Kėdainiai, Pakruojis and Žiežmariai, and in the Telšiai Yeshiva.
