Two duos, four musicians, four countries, and a vast array of sound! 22 May. "On the Improdimesija stage on May 22, May 22, the Estonian-Finnish duo of guitarist Mart Soo and saxophonist Esa Pietilä, and the Spanish-Lithuanian tandem of pianist Agustí Fernández and saxophonist Liudas Mockūnas will take to the stage.
Mart Soo and Esa Pietilä are the mainstays of the Estonian and Finnish jazz scene. Both musicians have earned the respect of music lovers for their exceptional improvisational skills. Each performance is a unique and dynamic experience, intertwining not only jazz and improvisation, but also contemporary classical music. Mart and Esa's ability to generate ideas and combine them organically right here and now is astonishing even to ears that have heard a lot. There is a reason why they are considered to be among the most talented musicians on the jazz and improvisational scene in the Baltic Sea Region. On their latest album Lighthouse Stories, Mart and Esa combine the acoustic sound world with the multifaceted vastness of live electronics. The Estonian-Finnish duo brings to Vilnius a load of stories with incredible twists and turns!
Flagship of the Lithuanian improvisational and jazz scene, woodwind virtuoso Liudas Mockūnas continues his collaboration with his long-time friend - Spanish avant-garde music legend, composer of distinctive style and genius pianist Agustí Fernández. Liudas and Agustí will present the latest creative explorations of the duo to the Improdimensija audience. With their impressive playing technique and vivid sonic imagination, the two musicians have an incredibly broad creative horizon, where jazz, contemporary academic and improvisational music converge. This is easy to see in Fernández and Mockūnas' Improdimensions, released in 2020, and in their concerts. On 22 May, the musicians, who operate with a devilishly wide range of extended techniques, will open a new chapter in the history of their sounds!
