Mark Tokar, a double bassist who is a defender of the Ukraine with a gun and a high level of skill and an exceptional sound, is coming to "Improdimensija"! The double bassist, who visited Lithuania a few years ago, has made more than one music lover experience what it is like to have chills running down your spine from his amazing music. Tokaras is back with a new vigour and will perform on stage with our country's aces of improvised music - saxophonist Liudas Mockūnas and multi-instrumentalist Arnas Mikalkėnas.
In 2005-2006, Mark was the artistic director of the Ukrainian-Polish festival Jazz Bez and organised the Metro Jazz series at the Lviv Philharmonic. He is the leader of the international projects Leo'm'art, Mark Tokar's Quintet and Avtokar, a member of Ken Vandermark's Resonance project, and plays in the bands Undivided, Five Spot, Four, Varpaj and Yatoku. Before the war, Mark was an active performer in the USA and Europe, and a regular lecturer at various jazz schools.
He has collaborated with a wide range of improvisational stars including Bobby Few, Perry Robinson, Steve Swell, Michael Zerang, Martin Küchen, Tim Daisy, Dave Rempis, Fred Frith, Klaus Kugel and Arkady Silkhopper, Mark Sanders, and many others.
