C. Saint-Saëns. Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 78 ("Organ Symphony")
Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra (Artistic Director and Principal Musician). The Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra (the State Orchestra of the Lithuanian State of Music, the main conductor and the artistic director Gintaras Rinkevičius) invites the audience to an evening of French Romantic music, where one of the most outstanding violinists of the young generation of Lithuanians, currently studying at the Royal College of Music in London, will play together with the Symphony Orchestra - Ugne Liepa Žuklytė. "Poème is a cornerstone of the violin repertoire, one of the composer's most famous and best-loved opuses, written for the Belgian violin virtuoso Eugène Ysaÿe. Initially described by the composer as "a devilishly difficult task", the work, inspired by a dramatic love triangle, was finally presented to the Parisian public in 1897, bringing the composer unprecedented acclaim just two years before his death. at the height of his artistic career. With this symphony, the composer seems to have written the history of his own career: virtuoso piano passages, brilliant Romantic orchestration and organ sounds suitable for cathedrals and large concert halls. "I gave everything I had to give. What I have achieved in this symphony I will never achieve again", Saint-Saëns later wrote. Although the composer was asked to write another symphony after the symphony's great success in France, he never returned to the genre.
This evening the Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Prof. Dainius Pavilionis, Head of the Department of Conducting of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
