The post-punk band Molchat Doma will perform in Vilnius in November
On 14 November. On 14 November in Vilnius, the Belarusian post-punk sensation Molchat Doma will give a concert at the Compensa concert hall. This is the only performance in Lithuania by the authors of the hit "Sudno (Boris Ryzhy)" as part of their world tour. Tickets for Molchat Doma's November concert will be available on Bilietai.lt from 14 June.
The post-punk, new-wave and synth-pop band, currently residing in Los Angeles (USA),was formed in Belarus in 2017. Molchat Doma's dark, gothic, yet danceable sound is unique: while reminiscent of the past in some ways, it's still very recognisable to die-hard post-punk fans.
The band, a favourite in Europe, the US and the rest of the world, is made up of Egor Shkutko, who has a deep, monotone voice, Roman Komogortsev, who is a virtuoso on guitar, synthesizer and drum machine, and Pavel Kozlov, who is a virtuoso on bass guitar and synthesizer. The guys make no secret of the fact that they are inspired by music legends such as The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode and the Human League, while Molchat Doma's own music is often compared to genre giants such as Joy Division and Bauhaus.
Molchat Doma's popularity peaked in 2020 when their song "Sudno (Boris Ryzhy)" became a hit on TikTok, with more than 100,000 different users of the platform using it in their videos, which has significantly boosted the band's success on other platforms. "Sudno quickly climbed to the second spot in the Spotify Global Viral Top 50 and the first spot in the US Viral Top 50, while Molchat Doma's album Monument peaked at number 21 in the Billboard Top 200.
The band embarked on a hugely successful world tour between 2022 and 2023, garnering full houses in the US, Europe and Australia and stopping off for performances at music festivals such as Coachella, Cruel World and Primavera. After publicly denouncing Russia's war in Ukraine, Molchat Doma donated part of the proceeds from these concerts to support Ukraine.
According to the influential US music website Pitchfork, Molchat Doma's music is "so mystically assured that it's impossible not to want to be a part of it". On 14 November, this magic can be experienced at the Compensa Concert Hall in Vilnius.
