Event description
The Marvel Universe is about to get another antihero: Venom is coming to cinemas.
Marvel's Eddie Brock/Venom was first introduced to cinema audiences in 2007, in Spider-Man 3. In the comics, Venom is one of the main antagonists of Spider-Man, a hybrid of human and alien. Now this charismatic and psychologically complex Marvel antihero has his own movie.
Journalist Eddie Brock (actor Tom Hardy) is brash, tenacious and has a special flair for sensationalism. One evening, after hearing from his girlfriend Anne (Michelle Williams) about the strange and mysterious laboratory experiments of the brilliant scientist Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), Eddie decides to look into them further. But to no avail: his interview with the scientist ends as soon as the reporter mentions it. Thrown out, Eddie soon receives unexpected help from a regular member of Drake's team, whom he secretly lets into the lab. And there, Eddie is about to discover one of the greatest mysteries in human history: the attempts to crossbreed extraterrestrial DNA with the human gene pool. The goal of Drake's experiments is a new and improved human species.
Eddie's unauthorised visit to the lab ends in disaster: one of the new race's aggressive hybrids manages to attack a journalist. Terrified, Eddie manages to escape, but the creature's poison penetrates his system. Feeling unwell at home that night, Eddie soon realises he is not alone. At first it's just a strange new voice in his head. Then it's a frightening change in his body. And later, when the hit men sent by Drake drop by his apartment, it turns out that the scientist's experiment has worked perfectly in Eddie's body: he is transformed into a human-animal hybrid called Venom, with supernatural powers. A creature whose two sides - the alien's bloodthirstiness and the human's morality - make him an unstoppable anti-hero, the terror of all criminals.
