Salvador Sobral, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest and a favourite of the Lithuanian audience, has a happy news for his fans.
The audience has already missed the singer, who has been a guest of the Kaunas Jazz Festival on several occasions. He is returning to Lithuania after a three-year break, and has only performed in Vilnius once before, six years ago.
Salvador Sobral, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev in 2017, has become a symbol of the more mature music that is finding its place in the contest. His song is still remembered by Eurovision historians and the singers who take part every year as one of the most beautiful pieces of music to be heard at the event.
"Amar pelos dois" is a harmonically rich, lyrical, melodic piece. It is an emotional song that breathed at Eurovision. I am not ashamed and I am not afraid to say it - it was the best song," said Salvador Sobral in one of his interviews, which was also awarded the maximum number of points by the Lithuanian audience and the jury.
The vocalist's poor health did not prevent him from winning the contest. In autumn 2017, the singer said goodbye to his fans and was hospitalised for a few months, where he underwent a heart transplant operation.
After recovering from the operation, he returned to the stage triumphant. A national hero in Portugal, the vocalist, who has been honoured by the country's President, has immersed himself in a variety of musical projects, including jazz, Latin American music and a concert programme featuring the repertoire of the legendary Belgian singer Jacques Brel.
Although it is not easy to believe, the 2018 Vilnius performance was the first concert of Salvador Sobral outside his native Portugal or neighbouring Spain.
"I did not know what to expect, but I was overwhelmed by the attention and warmth of the Lithuanian audience. This concert was one of the best of my musical career," said Salvador Sobral.
Every time he has been in Lithuania, he has delighted the Lithuanian audience by singing in Lithuanian, with Salvador's "Paukščius" (Birds), which was also complimented by Kostas Smoriginas, and Biplan's "Amore".
Salvador Sobral returns to Lithuania this time with quite a solid creative baggage.
Last autumn saw the release of his fourth studio album "Timbre", featuring 11 new songs. One of them was recorded with the well-known Uruguayan actor and musician, Oscar winner Jorge Drexler.
"Timbre" means "timbre" in Lithuanian, and it is no coincidence that it is the name of Salvador Sobral's work. I am also very interested in the colours of musical timbres. This album is like a colourful palette," he says.
Last year, the Europe-renowned singer toured Brazil for the first time, performing to packed houses, and his album bpm, released in 2021, was nominated for a Latin Grammy.
With the timbre of his voice, it's impossible to forget him - musical, artistic and sensual, Salvador Sobral continues to win over new audiences year after year.
