On 17 July, the colourful and sumptuous Rokiškis Regional Museum will be filled with the sound of masterfully performed Tango and French music. The guests of the XVII Rokiškis Classical Music Festival will be IEVA PRUDNIKOVAITE, one of the most prominent Lithuanian opera soloists, and the ensemble 4TANGO. "Tango came into my life unexpectedly, but it drew me in, embraced and tamed me - it became an integral part of my creative life. Astoro Piazzolla's tango nuevo - the layers of the feminine source. Each song is like a mono-spectacle, transmitting a special sensuality, eroticism, vivid, but at the same time subtle emotions" - says I. Prudnikovaitė.
The audience is invited to a sultry and surprising musical date, which will take them to Latin America, filled with passion, sonorous rhythms and heat - to the music of Astor Piazzolla, one of the most famous Argentinian composers and performers, who is known as the King of Tango. During the concert, the musicians will also invite the audience to refresh themselves with the sweet scents and sounds of Provence and the elegantly mannered and delicate music of French composers.
Astor Piazzolla, known as the pioneer of traditional tango music, combined the powerful, sensual and soul-stirring music of tango with elements of classical and jazz music to create what is known as the "new tango" (tango nuevo). Thanks to this composer, the dance, influenced by the tango revolution of the 20th century, has transcended the genre and conquered the big stages. After discovering and reinterpreting tango music, biographers estimate that Piazzolla composed some 3 000 tango pieces, 50 film tunes, plays, ballets and recorded 500 works. The composer included instruments not normally used for traditional tango performance, such as electric guitar, flute, saxophone, electronic instruments and jazz and rock drum kits.
