Classical ballet Swan Lake
Dive into the wonderful and enchanting world of the classical ballet Swan Lake!
Created almost 150 years ago, Swan Lake has become synonymous with classical ballet at the highest level, and is one of the most sought-after ballets in the repertoire of ballets around the world. The four-act, four-scene ballet is an ancient German legend about Princess Odette, who is transformed into a swan by an evil sorcerer.
This November, Sofia Festival Ballet, a well-known ballet company in Europe that has been delighting audiences around the world for years with its perfected classical dance technique and elaborate choreography, will present its interpretation of this ballet in Lithuania. The company is made up of the best dancers from the National Opera and Ballet Theatres of Spain, Bulgaria, Norway, Macedonia, Japan and other countries.
The romantic, tender and poetic love story of the ballet Swan Lake begins when Prince Siegfried, who is celebrating his birthday and is pressured to marry by his mother, sees swans flying towards the lake and runs after them with a crossbow in his hand. When the swans come ashore, they turn into girls. Enchanted by the beauty of the swan princess, Siegfried lowers his gun and Odette tells him that the girls have been turned into birds by the evil sorcerer Rothbar, and that only the power of faithful love can dispel his spell. The Prince swears his eternal love to Odette. Unfortunately, it is not so easy to keep his oath: at a feast at the castle, the Prince sees Odilia, the daughter of the evil sorcerer, who resembles Odette like two drops of water, and he is not deterred and succumbs to the charms of the temptress. When Siegfried swears his love for Odilia, Rothbard triumphs - the Prince breaks his promise to Odette, which means that his spell is all-powerful and that there is no such thing as eternal love. Realising what he has done, Siegfried runs to the lake and begs Odette's forgiveness. The lovers are separated by the black swans sent by Rothbard, but love gives Siegfried the strength to overcome the evil sorcerer. Evil is defeated and life, love and happiness await the happy Odette and Siegfried.
